Thailand native Chef Benchewan Painter of Street to Kitchen is back to showcase her culinary skills on the Eight Row Patio! This Tuesday, she’ll be making “Holy Thai Triumvirate”: BBQ Chicken, Som Tom (Papaya Salad), and Sticky Rice.
Benchawan Jabthong Painter grew up cooking in her grandmother's restaurant in North Central Thailand, in the city of Nakhon Sawan. She has been cooking intensively from 6 years of age. Her grandfather, a fisherman, would bring seafood from the Chao Phraya River, which she and her grandmother would transform into delectable treasures.
Chef Benchawan's grandmother was renowned for her cooking, particularly her green curry fish. All of their food was locally sourced and handmade, a tradition Chef Benchawan adheres to this day.
Chef Benchawan has worked with some of Houston's best chefs, including Justin Yu and Brandi Key.
Street to Kitchen, LLC is Chef Benchawan and Husband Graham Painter's pop-up company, dedicated to bringing true, authentic Thai food to Houston using local ingredients.
