Austin based LeRoy and Lewis, dubbed "New School BBQ" by GQ Magazine, is uniquely focused on alternative cuts, whole animal utilization and responsible sourcing. Known for his innovative takes on Texas barbecue, Pitmaster and Chef Evan LeRoy incorporates elements of fine dining into his seasonally changing menu, shining a new light on traditional cuisine — he even welds his own pits! At LeRoy and Lewis, guests can expect old school market-style service of meats sliced to order and served by the pound. Accompanying the meats are seasonally-inspired picnic-style sides that go beyond the basics.
It’s fitting that their first pop up in Houston is at Eight Row — it’s a home coming of sorts. Sawyer Lewis, a former Coltivare manager, said “I will always value my time and experience as a member of the Agricole Hospitality family. Being a part of their team challenged me to be the leader I am today. We are grateful to have a network of supporters in Houston and are excited to come to town and showcase something fun at a venue that we love!”
Within the past couple of years, LeRoy and Lewis have collected many accolades, including being listed in Texas Monthly’s 25 Best New Barbecue Joints this year. In 2017, they were named Food Truck of the Year by Eater Austin.
Inspired by their love for Chinese food and Chef Evan’s recent trip to China, LeRoy and Lewis will be featuring a Chinese influenced BBQ pop-up menu on August 20th.
The menu will be as follows:
Chinese BBQ served with white rice, hoisin BBQ sauce and pickled radish
Tingling Akaushi Brisket — Beeman Family Ranch
Char Siu Pork Ribs — Peaceful Pork
BBQ Fried Rice
